More About Me!
Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my page. I'm Dara, a Los Angeles, California based travel and adventure enthusiast. I'm in my 40s, and aim to make this decade my most adventure filled yet! I love all types of travel experiences - you can just as easily find me camping in the desert as sipping champagne on an upscale cruise liner - I love it all!
My Story
I didn't travel much as a kid. My first real taste came in early 2005, when I studied abroad in Paris for the spring semester of my junior year of college - 20 years ago now! I was nervous at first, but quickly spread my wings and discovered the joy of not only travel, but of solo adventures as well. I visited as many places as I could during that semester, while still keeping on top of schoolwork of course! I rode in a Venetian gondola, explored an outdoor Soviet statue museum outside Budapest, and got lost in the markets of Marrakech - it was a blast!

I graduated from college and got a corporate job, just like I was supposed to. But I never shook the need of wanting to see more of the world in a big way, and so after a few years in the working world, my feet got too itchy to stay in one place - I quit my job in 2011, and headed off to Australia on a year long Work and Holiday visa. I spent a year exploring Australia and New Zealand, taking photos and writing about everything I did and saw and experienced. While other travelers were often hanging out and having a chat or a drink, I was always busy writing or researching destinations or organizing my photos. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was essentially laying the groundwork for what I would be doing in a more formal way as I got older.

These days life a happy medium - I have a wonderful job in the travel sphere, and use my free time to get out and explore the world. I'm originally from New York City, but have lived in Los Angeles, California for about a decade now. It's a perfect base for exploring this part of the United States. There are so many amazing places within a few hours drive, and LAX is just down the road to whisk me off to farther spots!
My passions are writing, video making, and photography. I'm always working on a new blog post, a new video, or taking photos. There's never a dull moment, which is exactly the way I like it!
More About the Blog
I launched this blog in early 2025 with the idea of sharing, inspiring, and learning.

As a traveler I'm pretty eclectic - I love camping, hiking, and wildlife interactions. I love cruises, being out to sea, and relaxing by the pool with a drink. I love scuba diving, especially with large animals like sharks, and hope to get my wreck certification soon. I also love history and culture and exploring the world's great cities and monuments. So that's a long winded way to say that this blog will cover everything! The DarAdventures site will be a smorgasbord of what the world has to offer.

I do a combination of solo travel, group travel, and travel with my wonderful partner, Andrew, so the blog will cover all different styles of travel as well. The blog is in its infancy phase, and I'm excited to grow it. If you've made it this far down, thank you for allowing me to introduce myself and my site! I hope you'll find it useful and enjoyable. Feedback always welcome!
